A man with a parole violation was fatally shot by police after opening fire on them in Detroit.

A fatal police shooting occurred on Detroit's east side when officers recognized a man with a parole violation linked to previous drug activities. The suspect opened fire on the officers, who returned fire, resulting in his death. The officers were unharmed and will be placed on leave pending an investigation. Michigan State Police are conducting a separate inquiry into the incident, which did not injure bystanders, including children nearby.
