A report from the HSE National Ambulance Service shows a 25% rise in bystander CPR for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests from 2012 to 2023, with 2,857 cases in 2023 where resuscitation continued after emergency services arrived. Younger patients who collapsed in public had better survival rates. Community First Responders and Public Access Defibrillators significantly contributed, with 29% survival among 304 defibrillated patients. The median age of victims was 68.
