First Black permanent chief appointed for Halifax Regional Police, with 31 years of service.
Don MacLean has been appointed the first permanent Black chief of the Halifax Regional Police. With 31 years of service, he previously held the position in an acting capacity. In his new role, MacLean plans to focus on enhancing community safety, police wellness, and building public trust, while remaining responsive to the evolving needs of the community.
