Australia's National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) faced scrutiny for spending millions on luxury travel, including safaris and cruises, due to unchecked invoices. In 2023, nine companies charged $7 million for short-term accommodations. To curb the program’s rising costs, NDIS Minister Bill Shorten announced a ban on travel, sex therapy, and drug services, aiming to reduce annual spending growth from 20% to 8%.
