On October 8, a suspected gas explosion caused the partial collapse of two shophouse units at 84 and 85 Syed Alwi Road in Singapore, injuring six people. The Singapore Civil Defence Force responded quickly, deploying search dogs and a drone, and rescuing one person from the second floor. While two individuals were hospitalized for minor injuries, four declined medical assistance. The Building and Construction Authority has mandated safety measures and further investigations.
