Belarusian-American lawyer Yuras Zyankovich's prison sentence has been extended to 13.5 years amid Belarus' ongoing crackdown on dissent. Arrested in 2021 for allegedly plotting to assassinate President Alexander Lukashenko, Zyankovich initially received an 11-year sentence, later increased by 2 years. His health has declined in custody, and he has been denied legal access. The U.S. Embassy condemned his treatment as part of a broader repression of political prisoners in Belarus.
