An International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) team is in Fukushima, Japan, to monitor the discharge of treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. This follows Japan's August 2023 discharge, initiated after the 2011 disaster. While Japan asserts the process meets international safety standards, China has protested, resulting in a seafood import ban.
