Former Russian deputy defense minister Timur Ivanov has been charged with embezzling over 3.2 billion roubles ($33.4 million) after his April arrest for bribery. He allegedly transferred funds from Interkommerts Bank to companies in Hong Kong and Cyprus for purchasing vessels. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison for embezzlement and an additional 15 years for bribe-taking. His arrest has spurred a crackdown on corruption within the defense ministry.
