37 countries ready for AfCFTA trade under ongoing leadership efforts to address obstacles.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) aims to enhance intra-African trade and investment, covering a market of 1.3 billion people with a GDP of $3.4 trillion. Despite slow implementation due to infrastructure and governance challenges, 37 countries are ready to trade under AfCFTA rules. Secretary-General Wamkele Mene emphasizes that market integration is a gradual process, with leaders convening in Kigali, Rwanda, to address ongoing obstacles.
