Wildland firefighter Angus Duguid invents Respire respirator for improved smoke protection.
Angus Duguid, a wildland firefighter in British Columbia, has created a respirator called Respire to address the inadequate respiratory protection available for wildland firefighters, who typically use bandanas or cloth masks. The small device, designed for short-term use, is worn in the mouth and can be easily clipped to a pocket. Duguid aims to bring Respire to market to enhance safety against harmful smoke exposure, which poses long-term health risks.
