Banff National Park in Canada has closed the Red Deer River Valley area from October 6 to November 18 for an Indigenous bison hunt. This closure aims to ensure public safety during the ceremonial harvest. Violators may face fines up to $25,000. The hunt is part of a $6.4 million project that successfully reintroduced 16 bison, growing the population to around 100. Each Indigenous hunter is allocated one bison, guided by the Indigenous Advisory Circle.
