James Godfrey Shepherd, a 65-year-old man from Maryland, was arrested in Sweden, Maine, following a domestic violence incident early Sunday. He allegedly assaulted his 64-year-old wife, causing a head injury. After the victim escaped and sought medical treatment, police established a perimeter when Shepherd refused to exit the home. He was ultimately arrested around 5 a.m. and faces charges for elevated aggravated domestic violence assault and creating a police standoff.
