Prakashman Raut appointed Chief Justice of Nepal, succeeding Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha.
On October 6, 2024, Prakashman Singh Raut was appointed Chief Justice of Nepal by President Ram Chandra Paudel, following recommendations from the Constitutional Council and approval by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. Raut, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, succeeds Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, who retired on October 5 after reaching the mandatory retirement age. Raut's term will last until March 31, 2026.
