Australian midfielder Massimo Luongo has been ruled out of the national team for World Cup qualifiers against China and Japan due to an ankle injury. Luongo, who recently came out of retirement, joins Connor Metcalfe on the sidelines, who is also injured. Luke Brattan and Patrick Yazbek have been called up as replacements. Australia currently ranks fifth in their qualifying group and needs strong performances to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
