Water buffalo PHill escaped in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, owner fined, captured after tranquilization, now recovering at sanctuary.
In August, a water buffalo named PHill escaped in Pleasant Hill, a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa, while being taken to slaughter. The owner pleaded guilty to having an animal at large, resulting in a $105 fine. After several days of roaming and a failed capture attempt where police shot the buffalo, PHill was tranquilized and taken to an animal shelter. Currently, PHill is recovering well at the Iowa Farm Sanctuary after treatment for an infected gunshot wound.
