Mongolia's National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring forecasts a colder than average winter ahead, especially in the eastern regions, with increased precipitation. The agency urges public preparedness, particularly for nomadic herders. Last winter's extreme conditions, known as dzud, resulted in over 10% of the livestock population, approximately 7.95 million animals, dying due to severe cold and snow-covered ground.
