Japanese startup Ashirase, supported by Honda, has created a shoe-mounted device to assist visually impaired people with navigation. The device connects to a smartphone app, using a motion sensor to send vibration prompts for directional guidance. It also offers audio navigation and hazard alerts. Weighing 60 grams, it costs 54,000 yen, with a monthly fee of 550 yen. Ashirase plans to sell it through retailers and targets international markets, including the UK.
