Nigeria's average cost of healthy diet declined slightly in Aug, but increased 28% since March, driven by rising prices of key food groups.

In August 2024, Nigeria's average cost of a healthy diet (CoHD) was N1,255 per adult per day, down 0.8% from July. Despite this decline, the CoHD has risen 28% since March 2024, driven by increased prices of legumes, nuts, and animal-source foods, which account for 37% of the total cost. The South-West region reported the highest CoHD at N1,554, while the North-West had the lowest at N1,014. The CoHD reflects access to nutritious diets amid rising inflation.
