Researchers from DZNE and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg have demonstrated that smartphone mobility data can identify individuals at higher risk for dementia. In a study involving 72 adults, one-third of whom showed subjective cognitive decline (SCD), GPS data from a wayfinding task revealed patterns indicating cognitive changes. Published in PLOS Digital Health, the findings suggest smartphone technology could enhance early detection and monitoring of Alzheimer's disease.
