Lafarge Canada inaugurates $38M waste-to-cement facility in Alberta, reducing fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions.

Lafarge Canada Inc. has inaugurated a $38 million facility at its Exshaw, Alberta plant to utilize construction waste for cement production, aiming to cut fossil fuel reliance. The facility will replace up to 50% of the natural gas used in one kiln, processing waste primarily from discarded wood. This initiative is projected to reduce CO2 emissions equivalent to removing approximately 9,200 vehicles from the road, supporting Lafarge’s sustainability goals.
