Zimbabwe's Climate Minister predicts normal to above-normal rainfall for the 2024/25 agricultural season after a dry October.

Zimbabwe's Climate Minister Sithembiso Nyoni announced that the country expects to receive rains starting in November, following a dry October. Although rainfall has been below average, forecasts suggest normal to above-normal precipitation for the 2024/25 agricultural season. This comes after inadequate rainfall last season left 20% of the population facing potential famine. A World Bank report warns of increased groundwater drought risk due to climate change, impacting agriculture, energy, and forestry sectors.
