37-year-old Twelve Tribes elder Nehemya Smith, convicted of child rapes and assaults, faces decades in prison.

Nehemya Smith, 37, an elder in the Twelve Tribes religious organization in Plymouth, Massachusetts, will be sentenced on Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court after being convicted of 25 counts, including child rapes and indecent assaults against two girls. The abuse occurred between 2016 and 2020 while the victims lived with their parents in the Twelve Tribes community. Smith faces decades in prison for his crimes.
