South Korea's foreign direct investment (FDI) hit a record $25.18 billion in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 5.2% rise from the previous year. The manufacturing sector saw a significant boost, with investments up 36.4% to $12.31 billion. However, FDI in local services dropped 13.3% to $11.95 billion. While U.S. and EU investments declined, Japanese investment surged. Greenfield investments rose 12.9%, but merger and acquisition investments fell by 12.7%.
