Georgia Governor Kemp suspends state's gas tax and extends state of emergency after Hurricane Helene.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has suspended the state’s gas tax to provide financial relief following Hurricane Helene, which has significantly disrupted the supply chain and caused widespread damage. The suspension, effective October 3, will lower gas prices by over 30 cents per gallon and diesel by 33 cents. Kemp also extended the state of emergency until October 9, 2024, in response to the hurricane's impacts, which have resulted in significant casualties and damage.
