In the latter half of 2024, tech companies, including Microsoft and IBM, have continued significant layoffs, surpassing 100,000 jobs lost. In September, 30 firms cut 3,765 jobs, a decrease from August's 27,065 layoffs. Major announcements included Northvolt reducing 25% of its workforce, Microsoft letting go of 650 in its gaming division, and Udemy cutting 20% of its staff. Despite these layoffs, an increase in entry-level positions is expected in FY25.
