Maxwell Kofi Jumah, a member of Ghana's New Patriotic Party and CEO of GIHOC Distilleries, disclosed that his excessive catfish consumption led to high iodine levels in his body, causing health issues. Diagnosed in the U.S., he has since reduced his intake and is recovering. His declining health raised concerns on social media in 2023. Experts suggest that while catfish can contain iodine, Jumah should also limit overall seafood consumption.
