The African Development Fund (ADF) has significantly modernized Benin's sheep industry since the early 2000s, addressing local meat and milk shortages. With $39.24 million, the ADF supported the construction of facilities in 18 towns, leading to reduced livestock mortality and increased productivity from 2012 to 2017. In 2021, Benin submitted a new project proposal for $15.17 million in loans and $13.40 million in grants aimed at enhancing sustainability and profitability in the sector.
