Amelia Jeffrey, a 22-year-old hospital worker, was using Snapchat while driving in Swansea when she hit pedestrian Helal Ahmed, causing him serious brain injuries and multiple fractures. The court revealed she exchanged 19 messages in the nine minutes before the collision. Jeffrey was sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for 18, required to complete a rehabilitation course, perform 200 hours of unpaid work, and face a two-year driving ban.
