Brett Evans, a 38-year-old guide for Alpine Guides, was killed in an avalanche on Pito Peak in New Zealand on September 25 during a heliskiing trip with Methven Heliski. While leading the group, he was buried in the avalanche and later extracted but did not survive. A memorial service is planned for October 1. The family requests donations to Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue instead of flowers. WorkSafe is investigating the incident.
