Tasmania's Supreme Court rejected Matthew John Davey's appeal against his 2017 attempted murder conviction in 2023.
Matthew John Davey's appeal against his conviction for attempting to murder his girlfriend by setting her on fire in 2017 was rejected by Tasmania's Supreme Court in September 2023. He initially received an 18-year sentence in 2021. The court found the evidence from a prison mate, Brett Pickett, to be fabricated and implausible. Davey is serving a 22-year sentence for attempted murder and persistent family violence, with parole eligibility in 2033.
