A manhole fire in downtown Baltimore on Sunday morning caused significant traffic disruptions and power outages. The Baltimore City Fire Department extinguished the fire by 8:30 a.m. after it injured one firefighter. Approximately 2,200 customers lost power, affecting local businesses and the University of Maryland: Midtown Hospital, which ran on generator power. Road closures included North Charles, Saratoga, and Lexington Streets, with the cause of the fire under investigation.
