Ireland has introduced stricter penalties for knife-related offenses, with maximum sentences for possessing a knife with intent to injure or intimidate increasing from five to seven years. Similarly, penalties for manufacturing and selling offensive weapons now carry a maximum of ten years, up from seven. Justice Minister Helen McEntee stated these changes aim to address rising knife crime and enhance community safety, reflecting a firm stance against such offenses.
