Indian government mandates BIS mark for screws to ensure quality, safety, and curb imports.
The Indian government has mandated quality standards for screws to enhance domestic manufacturing, prevent the import of sub-standard goods, and ensure consumer safety. The 'Cross Recessed Screws (Quality Control) Order,' issued by DPIIT on September 17, requires screws to have the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark. The regulations will take effect in six months for large and medium manufacturers, with penalties for violations including fines and imprisonment.
