Progress in reducing HIV rates has stalled among Hispanic and Latino Americans, even as overall infections decline in the U.S. Between 2018 and 2022, rates for this group remained steady, while Black and white Americans saw declines of 16% and 20%, respectively. Contributing factors include healthcare discrimination, stigma, and insufficient culturally tailored resources. In 2022, Hispanic Americans represented 33% of new HIV infections despite being 18% of the population.
