ACCC deputy commissioner Mick Keogh addresses beef producers' concerns about phantom bids and private kill account cancellations, advising them to report unfair practices to state agencies.
Mick Keogh, deputy commissioner of the ACCC, addressed concerns for beef producers regarding phantom bids at stud sales and cancellations of private kill accounts. He noted that vendor bids are regulated by state laws and advised reporting unfair practices to state agencies. Regarding private kill account cancellations, the ACCC will intervene only if evidence shows they are aimed at reducing competition. No evidence was found linking JBS Australia’s acquisition of Rivalea to hindering third-party private kills.
