Norway considers extending its border fence with Russia following Finland's example, to deter illegal crossings.

Norway is contemplating a border fence along its 198-kilometer boundary with Russia, inspired by Finland's recent initiative. Justice Minister Emilie Enger Mehl indicated that the fence, equipped with sensors, would deter illegal crossings and enhance monitoring. The Norwegian government is exploring various security measures, including increased staffing and surveillance, in response to rising illegal immigration. Currently, a short fence exists at the Storskog border station.
