Malawi initiates second phase of satellite TV project with China, installing digital equipment in 200 rural villages by year's end.

Malawi has initiated the second phase of its satellite TV project, supported by China. At a ceremony in Lilongwe, the government received equipment from StarTimes, which will install 4,000 digital decoders, 400 solar projection systems, and 200 digital TVs in 200 villages by year's end. This initiative, part of a broader program to enhance access to information in rural areas, follows a successful first phase completed in 2019. Local channel inclusion was also requested.
