Fisheries NZ raises snapper catch limits after a sustainability review.

Fisheries New Zealand has raised catch limits for several abundant species, including snapper, following a sustainability review. This biannual assessment also led to increased allowances for Kaikōura pāua, with a new minimum size requirement. However, catch limits for the Challenger Plateau orange roughy and Southland blue cod have been reduced to ensure sustainability. Decisions are informed by scientific data and public input.
