On September 27, Corvallis Police responded to a report of a potentially armed 25-year-old man in a mental health crisis. After locating his vehicle downtown, officers initiated a traffic stop, but the man refused to comply. The Van Buren bridge was temporarily closed for safety concerns. After two hours of communication, police and behavioral health workers resolved the situation peacefully, transporting the man for evaluation. The bridge reopened shortly after.
