Montreal's historic concert hall, La Tulipe, has temporarily closed due to a Quebec Court of Appeal ruling prohibiting noise audible in adjacent buildings. Over 100 artists, including notable musicians, have signed a letter condemning the closure and urging the City of Montreal to protect cultural venues from noise complaints. In response, the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough is amending noise bylaws to prevent similar issues for concert halls, with changes effective October 7.
