Zambezi River Authority increases 2025 hydropower water allocation to 27 billion cubic meters.

The Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) has increased the 2025 water allocation for hydropower generation to 27 billion cubic meters, up from 16 billion in 2024. This allocation, split equally between Zimbabwe Power Company and Zambia's ZESCO, is based on favorable rainfall predictions for the upcoming season. The allocation will be reviewed in early 2025, considering actual rainfall and water levels at Kariba Dam amid ongoing climate variability concerns.
