150-year-old Sycamore Gap tree saplings distributed for "Trees of Hope" after illegal felling; culprits to face trial in December.

A year after the illegal felling of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree near Hadrian's Wall, the National Trust is distributing 49 saplings from the tree as part of its "Trees of Hope" initiative. The 150-year-old tree gained fame from the film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and was a beloved landmark. The saplings will be shared with communities, national parks, and schools, while the two men charged in the incident are set for trial in December.
