89-year-old Edwin Lloyd Pittman, former Chief Justice of Mississippi Supreme Court (2001-2004), passed away on Sept 25.

Edwin Lloyd Pittman, former Chief Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court, died at 89 on September 25 at his home in Ridgeland. Over a 40-year public service career, he held various roles in all three branches of state government, including Attorney General and State Treasurer. As Chief Justice from 2001 to 2004, he focused on court transparency and access to justice. Pittman was honored with the Mississippi Medal of Service in 2011 and is survived by his family.
