Roanoke police officers cleared of criminal charges in self-defense shooting of Travis Taurean Martin.

Roanoke police officers Sgt. M.K. Mulligan and Officer J.P. Coles have been cleared of criminal charges in the shooting death of Travis Taurean Martin in June. The Commonwealth's Attorney, Don Caldwell, ruled that the officers acted in self-defense after Martin, who had threatened police and was armed with a hatchet, advanced toward them. The investigation, which included bodycam footage and witness statements, found no probable cause for charges.
