63% of Indian clothing retailers forecast weaker festive sales, citing inflation and changing consumer behavior.
The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) reports that 63% of clothing retailers expect weaker sales this festive season compared to last year, with 25% predicting a drop to 75% of previous sales. Key challenges include inflation and a shift in consumer spending toward lifestyle products. Mid-priced brands are anticipated to perform best, and 75.5% of consumers prefer offline shopping. CMAI President Rajesh Masand remains hopeful for demand during the wedding season.
