Calgary residents conserved 9 billion liters of water during mandatory restrictions following a significant pipeline break on June 5. This amount is six times more than previous savings during droughts, enough to fill 3,600 Olympic-sized swimming pools. While the efforts supported the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant, consumption still exceeded limits multiple times in June. Councilor Jennifer Wyness stressed the importance of further reducing water wastage and improving infrastructure.
