The Texas Rangers have solved the 1982 cold case murder of Velma Nesset, whose body was found in a drainage culvert. Using advanced DNA testing from the Texas Department of Public Safety's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative, they identified 62-year-old Billy Wayne Ludwigson as the perpetrator. Arrested in Colorado, Ludwigson confessed and was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in August 2024.
