A 2019 study in the Food Science and Nutrition journal found that daily consumption of unsalted tomato juice can significantly lower blood pressure and reduce bad cholesterol in individuals with hypertension or prehypertension. Conducted in Tokyo with 481 participants over a year, the benefits were consistent across age and gender. The researchers suggested that the antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes may contribute to these health improvements.
