Indonesia's Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry has detained five foreign fishing vessels, including four from the Philippines and one from Malaysia, for illegal fishing in its waters. A total of 34 crew members were onboard. The vessels were reportedly using prohibited trawlers and were apprehended in the Pacific Ocean and Malacca Strait. Since January, Indonesia has confiscated 21 foreign vessels for similar violations.
