Olympic rowing silver medallist Simon Burgess, 57, pleaded guilty to assault and breaching family violence orders following a December 2023 incident in Tasmania. He entered his ex-wife's home, assaulted her while wearing gloves, and caused property damage. She defended herself with a glass bowl. Burgess, who believed the orders had expired, expressed remorse and has since sought help for mental health issues and alcohol use. Sentencing is scheduled for October.
